Constructing Hilltop’s Kezar Lake Home at Great Brook Preserve |
Hilltop’s clients chose a prime location in the Great Brook Preserve for their home, with dramatic views of the slopes at Sunday River Ski Resort in the distance. Butt and Pass corners are shown in the far left hand side of the photo. The window and door bucks are added as supporting log courses are placed. |

This client chose a 6x8 pine “D” log in full log construction. This photo shows construction managed by Hilltop’s Authorized Builder and Representative, Hayward and Company after 1 week on site. Notice that some 1st floor support walls are in place on the inside. The 2nd floor system has been laid upon the 1st floor supporting wall. The builders in the photo are installing temporary bracing to support the gable end wall.

| Roof Construction |

The framing for a conventionally framed roof system is well under way. Soon windows, doors, sheathing and roofing will be added to make the home weather tight. |

| Exterior Nears Completion |
With asphalt shingles on the roof, this dream home is becoming a reality. Next, finish materials will be placed on the dormers. Windows and doors will be installed soon. |

Stick-built construction was used for this expansive wall of windows. |
| Grand Center Post |
The 10” hand peeled pine center post supports multiple ridges and valleys on this conventional, although complex roof system. While providing structural integrity, the post also creates a striking centerpiece for the home. |
| Exposed Carry Timbers |
Douglas Fir carry timbers bear the weight of the second floor. A portion of these timbers will remain exposed in the finished home to add to its beauty. |

| Finish Flooring |
One of the final steps in completing a home is to install the finish flooring. This step is often saved for the project’s end to protect the new floor from damage during the construction of the home. |
