BACKGROUND & HISTORY
Mike Hayward is no stranger to the log and
timber home industry. Mike’s dad, Arthur Hayward,
started selling and constructing log homes in 1971,
thus conditioning Mike to the business throughout
his early years. Today, the Haywards design and
build homes for their clients throughout New Hampshire
and Maine as part of the Hilltop team.
In 2001 Mike and Julie Hayward started construction
of their first Hilltop Log & Timber Home in
southwestern New Hampshire. With the completion
of the home in 2002, they became one of Hilltop’s
first authorized representatives.
The Haywards did not stop in 2002. In 2005,
they relocated to central New Hampshire and built
one of the first Hilltop Timber Series homes. Julie
designed the new home to incorporate passive solar
and green building principles. As Energy Star® Partner
builders, the Haywards strive to build homes that
efficiently perform for their owners and reduce overall
operating costs.
Mike and Julie live in their Energy Star® Hilltop
Timber Series home located in Bristol, New
Hampshire with their three sons, Cameron, Jacob,
and Garrett.

CLIENT SERVICES
Hayward & Company specializes in the following:
- Traditional log home construction
- Hybrid Post & Beam construction
Traditional log homes have stood the test of time and provide
a living environment which cannot be duplicated with
any other construction method. We utilize Hilltop Log &
Timber Homes in Bowdoinham, Maine for the materials
for our traditional log homes. The material choices are extensive
and we work with our clients to make to proper
choices while remaining conscience of costs.
Traditional log homes are the ultimate ‘green’ choice. Everyone
knows trees are the world’s most abundant renewable
resource so why not build your home out of them.
They are warm in the winter, cool in the summer, beautiful,
bright, and versatile – what’s not to love!
Hybrid Post & Beams are a wonderful choice for the client
who likes the warmth of wood but not to the extent of a
traditional log and who loves the clean design of a timber
frame but who can’t afford the high cost of a traditional
frame. Our hybrid solution is truly a beautiful choice with
endless options for your home’s exterior and interior. We
again utilize Hilltop Log & Timber Homes for the materials
for our Hybrid Post & Beams.
The heart and soul of our Hybrid Post & Beams is the
Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) which comprise the
homes walls and ceilings. Constructing with SIPs creates
the ultimate High Performance Home (HPH) with energy
efficiency which is unmatched in the residential construction
industry.
All our homes are built to the 2006 International Residential
Code (IRC) and National Association of Home Builders
Green Home Building Standard (February 2008). |
